Cadence Magazine: 100 Years of Influential Women in Music
Overview
This project, created in collaboration with Aubrey Zimmerman at Ball State, was our opportunity to design a full magazine from start to finish. It was an exercise in layout, typography, and print production. Research played a huge role, as we explored the many details and variables that can affect a large-scale print project. Along the way, we learned to adapt, problem-solve, and work seamlessly as a team, overcoming challenges to bring the magazine to life successfully.

Creating a Cohesive Magazine
One of the most important things we had to do was create guidelines to follow so that all of the pages seemed cohesive, like they were created by the same designer. To do that, early on we decided to create page templates that could be adapted. By doing this we were able to create spreads that had similar elements, but also allowed for exploration and different styles. On the right is an example of some of the basic templates we started with and how we adapted them into different pages.
